Dr. Damrauer serves as part of the leadership team for the Bladder Cancer Research Program and directs the computational and bioinformatic research efforts of the program. Beginning as a graduate student, Dr. Damrauer has made numerous seminal discoveries, specifically in the area of bladder cancer heterogeneity. This work includes the initial discovery and characterization of molecular subtypes of muscle invasive bladder cancer, the identification of novel predictive and prognostic models of response, to both BCG and immunotherapy, and leading a multi-institutional collaboration, which created and profiled a biobank of metastatic urothelial carcinoma.

His current interests include the use of new and emerging molecular profiling technologies (e.g. single cell RNA-sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, etc…) to elucidate bladder cancer heterogeneity and the integration of clinical and genomic data to select and optimize treatment. In addition to Dr. Damrauer’s research, he is an active member of the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network, on the editorial board of Clinical Genitourinary Cancer, and serves on the board of the International Bladder Cancer Network (IBCN).
