Getting started as a new user in the NMC

Welcome to the Core! We’re so excited to help support your imaging goals. Before permitting access to our equipment, all users must be registered on iLab and trained by Core staff.

Register in iLab

  1. Navigate to the core page: https://uncch.ilab.agilent.com/service_center/show_external/4868
  2. In the upper-right-hand corner of the screen click ‘Login,’ and select the ‘Click Here’ link if you are part of the institution.
  3. You will be directed to an authentication page where you will need to enter your UNC credentials (ONYEN and password).
  4. Once you have entered your credentials, click the ‘Login’ button
  5. You will be directed to an iLab Registration page where you will need to select your PI/Lab and verify your contact information.
  6. Once your registration has been submitted, your PI or an assigned iLab account manager for your lab will receive a notification that you have requested membership to their lab in iLab. They will need to approve your membership and assign any Account Number for your use.

Submit a Training Request

  1. Navigate to the core page: https://uncch.ilab.agilent.com/service_center/show_external/4868
  2. Click the “Login” button at the upper right hand of the page and log into your account.
  3. Select the “Request Services” tab and click on the “Request Service” button next to the service of interest.
  4. You will be asked to complete a form before submitting the request to the core.
  5. The Core will review your request and be in touch ASAP.

Consultation and Training

Once we receive your training request, we will set up a consultation with Core staff to discuss your project goals, imaging needs, and the appropriate systems for your use. From there, we will schedule guided training sessions to ensure your familiarity with the microscope hardware and software, as well as Core policies. For the microscopes, two trainings are required before you can use the systems independently. For the workstations and cryostat, one 15-30 minute training is required, depending on your experience and needs. Training fees are detailed on the rates page and are per person.
