UNC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology residents presented a wide range of innovative research at the 41st Annual William Droegemueller Departmental Research Day, held May 13, 2026, at the Kenan Center at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.
PGY3 residents delivered oral presentations across two sessions, highlighting topics spanning global maternal health, reproductive health policy, gynecologic oncology, and surgical outcomes. Presentations included research on gestational diabetes in Zambia, trends in misoprostol dispensing across North Carolina, endometrial cancer immunotherapy, and the staging of endometriosis.
The event also featured keynote speaker Jeffrey Peipert, MD, PhD, a nationally recognized leader in women’s health and family planning research. Dr. Peipert shared insights from his extensive work in contraception, STI prevention, and public health, as well as his leadership experience advancing academic departments and NIH-funded research.
The annual research day continues to highlight the depth and impact of resident scholarship at UNC OB-GYN and underscores the department’s commitment to advancing women’s health through research, education, and clinical care.
