I am a Professor of Radiology and Division Chief of Molecular Imaging and Therapeutics at UNC-CH. My principal area of interest and expertise is PET imaging, in particular, developing PET as an imaging biomarker. I have 30 years of clinical, research and educational experience in nuclear medicine and PET. I was deeply involved in implementing the PET/CT program at UNC since its inception in 2003, and have been an active, contributing member of various clinical and research programs involving PET/CT. I was also involved with implementing the research and clinical use of PET/MR at UNC. I served as a grant reviewer for the NIH Special Emphasis Panel, which gave me great insight into the current state of PET and molecular imaging research. Additionally, as a reviewer on the UNC Lineberger Cancer Center Protocol Review Committee, I became familiar with various aspects of human research protocol development and implementation.
