Dr. Kashuba is a globally recognized pharmacist, pharmacologist and translational scientist. She leads a research laboratory focused on optimizing antiretroviral pharmacology in the treatment, prevention, and eradication of HIV infection and serves as co-Principal Investigator of the UNC Center for AIDS Research. Her laboratory integrates cell culture, animal models and clinical trials, bioanalytical chemistry, and pharmacometric approaches to improve therapeutic strategies for HIV infection. She has mentored over 100 undergraduate, professional and doctoral students and junior faculty investigators, who now serve in academia, government and industry. She has authored over 300 manuscripts and received over $40 million in direct research funding as Principal Investigator. As a leader in multidisciplinary collaboration, she has held major roles in NIH-funded research networks and clinical pharmacology programs supporting large multicenter clinical trials.
