I am a maternal-fetal medicine physician with a clinical and research focus on maternal morbidity and mortality, as well as maternal medical illness in pregnancy, including diabetes, hypertension, HIV, and renal disease. I have a research background in epidemiology and demography, and much of my research focuses on either clinical data from the patients we care for or large, population – based data that can look at nationwide trends. I also have a strong personal and research interest in the roles contraception and abortion care play in improving maternal and child health outcomes.
