I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine with a clinical focus in general diabetes and endocrinology and research interests in translational human physiology, specifically in the effects of macronutrient intake on brain metabolism in humans. I am trained in basic science, including in genetic mouse models, but I expanded into translational human research during my fellowship and postdoctoral training with Dr. Janice Hwang. I continue to work very closely with Dr. Hwang and am a member of the Brain Metabolism Lab. In the realm of clinical research, I have worked with collaborators in Adult and Pediatric Endocrinology to establish a registry of people with new-onset type 1 diabetes, which has allowed us to review islet autoantibody ordering patterns across the UNC system. I have also been a sub-investigator for an inpatient CGM clinical trial. If any of this is of interest to you, I would love to discuss potential collaborations!
