My research centers on learning how mindfulness and self-compassion promotes healthy caregivers, parenting behaviors, stress responses, and child development. I enjoy using qualitative techniques in order to deeply understand how programs promoting mindfulness and self-compassion work. I enjoy using behavior observation methodologies in order to explore how internal shifts may translate to interpersonal behavior changes, including in the context of parent-child interactions and caregiver-care recipient interactions. I also aim to understand how racial, cultural, and socioeconomic differences may impact the acceptability of programs developed primarily by and researched with White, middle class, college-educated populations.
