My research focuses on extracellular matrix (ECM) scaffold materials, emphasizing understanding host–biomaterial responses that control inflammation and fibrosis. Specifically, my lab examines how macrophage- and fibroblast-mediated signaling influences scaffold remodeling, immune regulation, and fibrotic outcomes after implantation. A key application of this work is vocal fold regeneration, where we aim to promote functional tissue recovery while minimizing scar formation through immunomodulatory and pro-regenerative scaffold design.
