My research is focused on understanding the crosstalk between coagulation and inflammation in various diseases, including sickle cell disease. My primary research is to investigate the role of protease activated receptor 1 in the vascular pathology of sickle cell disease. A second area of interest is determining whether hormonal contraception increases the risk of venous thrombosis in women with sickle cell disease. I also have expertise in general thrombosis, both the intrinsic/contact activation pathway and extrinsic activation pathway of coagulation.
