My clinical and research focus is on clarifying the mechanisms by which diet induced obesity leads to downstream kidney damage. I use a zebrafish model to investigate how changes in diet affect the function and form of the kidney, including how dietary changes affect the filtration barrier cells called podocytes. I am also interested in how obesity influences the course and outcomes of patients with kidney disease, including glomerular diseases.
