As a Research Instructor at UNC-CH, I focus on three key areas of research: implementation science, prehospital emergency medical services, and medical education. My current ongoing projects include: assessing the feasibility and effectiveness of opioid use disorder prevention, harm reduction, and treatment strategies; developing an implementation map for expansion of emergency care for frontline healthcare workers in Kenya; identifying barriers and facilitators to CPR education for the NC Mandarin-speaking population; assessing feasibility and adoption of a psychiatric interfacility transport protocol; and evaluating the implementation and effectiveness of pediatric emergency care coordinators in NC EMS. Past projects include: effectiveness and implementation of a novel fluid resuscitation device in EMS; implementation of alternate destinations for emergency mental health patients; and understanding the intersectionality of minority identities and healthcare professions.

I am particularly interested in working with local communities and organizations to mutually design and adopt interventions to suit local needs and resources and the utilization of qualitative methods.

In addition to my role as a Research Instructor, I am also a Doctor of Public Health candidate in Implementation Science at Johns Hopkins.
