My clinical research is in coronary artery disease, percutaneous coronary intervention, cardiovascular hemodynamics and myocardial infarction. Current projects involve the optimal use of CYP2C19 genotyping to selected anti-platelet therapy, predicting survival in patients with ST elevation myocardial infarctions and outcomes of patients who have myocardial infarctions while hospitalized with a non-cardiac condition.

My basic science research is in the areas of regulation of smooth muscle cell growth, the role of the smooth muscle cytoskeleton in regulating signaling pathways, thrombin generation, and renal artery stenosis. Current projects include examining differences between smooth muscle cells isolated from internal mammary arteries (which are resistant to atherosclerosis) and coronary arteries. I am also PI on the Atheroprotective Factors in Geriatric Individuals (AGE) clinical study which is searching for potential atheroprotective factors, using genomic, proteomic and metabolomic approaches, in a geriatric population that do not have coronary artery disease on angiography.
