Training Program Characteristics
The Environmental Pathology Training Program provides support for the research activities of both predoctoral fellows (Ph.D. students) and for postdoctoral fellows (Ph.D., M.D., D.V.M.).
Postdoctoral trainees who hold a doctoral degree in an appropriate discipline can pursue one of two programs. Postdoctoral (Ph.D.) trainees already trained in the basics of laboratory science will work in an apprentice relationship with a senior scientist on an appropriate research topic. Postdoctoral trainees who have received a clinical doctorate (M.D., D.V.M.), may choose similar apprenticeship training or may pursue a program of study and research leading to the Ph.D. degree in experimental pathology.
These positions are supported by a grant from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. NIH Institutional National Research Service Awards (NRSA) can only be given to US citizens or permanent residents. Payback provisions of the NRSA program apply to the traineeships.
