Timeline for Residency Applications for Match in March 2026

| September 3, 2025 | Residency applicants may begin submitting MyERAS applications to programs at 9 a.m. ET |
| September 24, 2025 | Residency programs may reviewing MyERAS applications and MSPEs in the PDWS at 9 a.m. ET |
| October 2025 | UNC interview season begin |
| November 2025 | UNC interview season ends |
| December 2025 – January 2026 | OPTIONAL resident-run in-person open houses for interviewees |

Virtual Open House
The residents will be hosting virtual open houses at 7:00 PM Eastern Time (EST) on August 7, 2025 and August 19, 2025. These are informal virtual meetings to allow prospective applicants to meet some of our residents and learn about our program.

Applications
Applications are accepted through October 7, 2025. We begin reviewing applications shortly after ERAS opens for programs at the end of September, 2025, so interested applicants are encouraged to apply early. We plan to offer interviews on the pathology uniform interview offer date of October 15, 2025, at 4 PM EST, in accordance with guidelines from the Association of Academic Pathology Program Directors (PRODS).
Interviews
Interviews will all be virtual this year. They will include an overview of the program, time with faculty and the chair and time with the current residents. Our interview dates are Oct 28, 29, Nov 4, 5,11,12,18, 19, 25. Interviews typically run from 10 am-2:30 pm EST.
The UNC Hospitals Pathology Residency Program requires:
- Submission of applications exclusively through ERAS
- Three letters of recommendation
- Medical school transcript
- Personal statement
- Demonstrated interest in Pathology
- Valid ECFMG certification for international medical graduates
- Medical school cut-off date of ten years
