Dr. Chop joined the Department of Pediatrics as faculty on August 28, 2023. Dr. Chop received her BS from the University of Maryland in 2011, completed her medical degree at Saint James School of Medicine, Anguilla in 2016, and earned a master’s in public health at Walden University, Minnesota in 2017. She was a Pediatric Resident at the Vidant Medical Center at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC from 2017 to 2020. She completed subspecialty training in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital/The Ohio State University in 2023. Welcome Yvette!
Dr. Sharp joined the Department of Pediatrics as faculty on July 31, 2023. Dr. Sharp completed his medical degree at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 1989. He was a Pediatric Intern at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio from 1989 to 1990 and a Pediatric Resident and then Chief Resident at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center at the Pennsylvania State University from 1990 to 1993. He completed subspecialty training in Pediatric Pulmonology at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, WI in 1996. Dr. Sharp has held faculty positions at the Medical College of Virginia, the State University of New York at Buffalo, Duke University, and most recently at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Christine Tangredi, a child neurologist in Wilmington, is using her own personal experience with a neurological disorder to help children and families in the community. She specializes in working with children with neurologic disorders including epilepsy at the Novant Health Nunnelee Pediatric Multispeciality Care Clinic at Autumn Hall.
Dr. Varghese joined the Department of Pediatrics as faculty on May 15, 2023. Dr. Varghese received her BA from Austin College in Sherman, Texas in 2008, her MPH form the University of North Texas Health Science Center – Fort Worth in 2010 and completed her medical degree at the American University of Antigua School of Medicine in 2016. She was a Pediatric Resident at UNC from 2016 to 2019. She completed her subspeciality training in Child Neurology at UNC in 2022. Since graduating, she has practiced with THINK Neurology for Kids in Houston TX. Welcome back Sonia!
Sean Sullivan joined the Wilmington Pediatric Specialty Division in Gastroenterology as an Associate Professor on November 14, 2022. Dr. Sullivan earned his MD from the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Rutgers University in 1996. He completed his Pediatrics Residency at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego in 2001 and a Fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology at Johns Hopkins University in 2006. Dr. Sullivan has served as a Pediatric Gastroenterologist at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth since 2015 and as a Pediatric Specialty Leader with the U.S. Navy since 2020. Dr. Sullivan also served as Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth from 2016 to 2019. Welcome Sean!
Novant Health has added physicians in partnership with UNC Health to add new and expand current pediatric specialty care services to shorten wait times in their Wilmington clinics. Novant Health is welcoming new pediatric specialty providers to Wilmington to offer expert care for children. Pediatric patients and families from across the region will benefit by this care being close to home.
Amari Howard joined the Wilmington Pediatric Specialty Division in Gastroenterology as an Assistant Professor on September 1, 2022. In 2016, Dr. Howard earned a medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Howard completed a Pediatric Residency at the A.I DuPort Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware in 2019 and a Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC in 2022. Dr. Paris joined the Department of Pediatrics as faculty as faculty in the Division of Cardiology on September 27, 2021. Dr. Paris received her BS in Nursing from the University of Texas in 1980 and received her medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Science School of Medicine in 1992. She currently serves as a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical School Baystate in Springfield, MA. Dr. Paris will spend her time performing clinical activities in Wilmington, NC.
