Peyton Thompson, MD, MSCR, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Infectious Diseases whose research focuses on the prevention of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in sub-Saharan Africa. She has led efforts towards the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HBV in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She is funded by awards from the NIH, ASTMH/Burroughs-Wellcome Fund and Gilead Sciences to conduct this research. As a member of the Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Ecology Laboratory (IDEEL), she collaborates with a network of researchers who are passionate about infectious disease prevention in low-resource settings. She is invested in teaching and mentoring students and trainees who share an interest in global health and vaccinology.
