Q: Why should I give?

When it comes to putting your charitable dollars to work, we know you have a lot of choices. Unlike most other non-profit organizations, you don’t have to pick one cause or area to support when you give through the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. You can make an impact on advances in health care, solutions to the world’s most important societal issues, innovative research across multiple disciplines, or hundreds of other funds at Carolina. Your gift goes directly to the area of your choice and provides critical support for talented Tar Heels on campus and across the globe.

Q: Is there a minimum gift amount?

Gifts must be at least $5 to be processed via our online platform. You can, of course, give multiple times across multiple areas—and these gifts will all count individually for those areas, helping their standing in GiveUNC leaderboards and getting them closer to reaching important challenges and matches offered during the day.

Q: I can only give a small amount. Will my gift really make a difference?

Yes! The power of GiveUNC is in the collective impact Tar Heels across the world can make in just one day. Your $5 gift, combined with 10 others, can provide a conference registration for a senior student preparing for the business world; 10 gifts of $10 can provide art supplies for aspiring artists at Ackland; 10 gifts of $25 can help purchase textbooks for a student. With over a hundred causes on campus to support on GiveUNC, there is no limit to the impact you and others can make with your gift, no matter the size. Additionally, your gift at any amount can also unlock vital challenge and match dollars for the area of your choice, multiplying the impact of your gift.

Yes—100% of your gift will go directly to the area you designate.

Q: How do I make a gift?

Between midnight and 11:59 EST on March 30, visit unchf.org/giveunccecmh and select either a one-time or monthly gift!

Q: What is the benefit of making a monthly gift?

Monthly gifts are an easy way to ensure your prolonged impact on the causes you care most about. By setting up a monthly gift through Carolina, you are providing students, faculty, and researchers with the resources they need to do groundbreaking work.

Q: Is it safe to make my gift online?

Yes. The information collected during GiveUNC is only used by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It will not be sold or shared with any third-party organization. Our giving platform encrypts all private data and keeps your personal information as secure as possible.

Q: I don’t want to give online. Can I still give?

While we encourage giving online on GiveUNC, you can call 919-537-3818 Monday-Friday between 8am-5pm EST to make your gift over the phone. Gifts made through mail can be sent to the following address:
