Summary Statement:

Dr. Gala was born and raised in upstate new York. After completing training in General Surgery, he practiced in rural North Carolina for a number of years. He subsequently completed a General Psychiatry Residency at UNC and joined the faculty in 2006. He is co-Director of the UNC Philosophical Issues in Psychiatry Reading Research Group and is Associate Chair for Education and Training in Psychiatry. He assumed the role of Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs in 2018, and as of July 2019 is the Interim Chair of the Department.
