The Division of Surgical Oncology is the surgical arm of the nationally recognized Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Division of General Pediatric Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill continues its mission to treat sick and injured children with the most expert and experienced team and to provide the best care possible in a family-centered, “kid-friendly” environment. We are committed to offering the highest level of Pediatric Surgical Services and to the education of patients, their families, our colleagues and the community about surgical problems that are unique to children.

The Acute Care and Trauma Division of the UNC Department of Surgery and UNC Healthcare Systems is dedicated to providing the highest quality care for injured and critically ill patients and to develop and implement multidisciplinary research programs designed to investigate the physiologic, metabolic, and pathologic states affecting patients with multiple injuries.

The Division of GI Surgery is dedicated to providing comprehensive surgical care for patients with basic and complex gastrointestinal diseases. Patients are referred to our surgeons from across the Southeastern United States for management of a variety of benign and malignant GI disorders via open and laparoscopic approaches.

Our surgical teams offer advanced treatments for problems of the heart, lungs, esophagus and chest. We provide excellent care of all of our patients, from newborns to people in their 90s. Since its opening the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center has saved hundreds of lives and restored thousands of people, both children and adults, to lives of health and productivity. At the same time, the Burn Center has advanced the scientific knowledge of burn care and rehabilitation.
