The Adult Burn Survivor Retreat is offered to burn survivors, family members, caregivers, and staff. Many burn survivors struggle with transitioning into their “normal” lives after a burn injury because there is often a need to learn a new “normal”. The retreat is designed to offer an opportunity to explore how others cope with life after a burn injury. Attendees share resources and ideas on how to take necessary steps for continued recovery and growth as survivors returning to their communities and workplaces.
The Adult Burn Survivor Retreat is held at a retreat center, offering a quiet and relaxing environment that encourages participants to concentrate on issues without distraction. There is a theme for each retreat that changes from year to year which offers those returning attendees new knowledge each time they come. Since such work is best done in smaller groups, the retreat is limited to 30 people. Attendees have an easier time getting to know other participants as a result of the limited group size.
