Bruce A. Cairns, MD and Randy D. Kearns, DHA of the UNC Division of Surgery, have received a $100,000 grant from the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services (through the US DHHS/ASPR Hospital Preparedness Programs) for their work regarding Burn Surge Preparedness for North Carolina and the Southeast US.
This one year project will continue their work dedicated to improving burn surge preparedness through burn care education and planning for community and regional hospitals, EMS agencies and trauma centers. Dr. Cairns is the Director of the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center at UNC Hospitals and Randy Kearns is the Program Director for the NC Burn Surge Disaster Program.
