Jamie Hollowell, RN, MSN, ACNP-BC
APP Manager for Acute Care Services
About
The more Jamie Hollowell learned about burn patients and the burn care community, the more she knew it was the right fit. What stood out most was the way burn teams—especially at UNC—care for patients throughout their entire journey. As one of the largest and most comprehensive burn centers in the country, UNC’s robust Aftercare program plays a vital role in supporting patients as they navigate life after a burn. She describes the burn community as tight-knit and deeply supportive—unlike anything she’s experienced in other fields.
Her philosophy of care centers on respect, empathy, and holistic support. “In critical care—especially burns—we often meet patients and families on one of their worst days. It’s important to be mindful of how one incident can change the course of a person’s life.” Her background in nursing grounds her approach as a nurse practitioner: caring for the whole person, not just the acute medical issue.
Jamie now lives outside of Hillsborough on her husband’s family farm with their sons. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling to new cities, training in powerlifting, and being near the water—whether it’s a lake or the ocean.
