Jones is Carolina Covenant Health Program Coordinator

September 10, 2010 – Dr. Samuel W. Jones, MD, NC Jaycee Burn Center, has assumed leadership of the Carolina Covenant Allied Health Program. In his role as program coordinator, Dr. Jones will organize monthly seminars for Carolina Covenant Scholars interested in any of a broad range of health careers.

ICU Nurses Named Among “Great 100” in North Carolina

Bariatric Surgery Center Receives ACS Accreditation

September 8, 2010 – The Bariatric Surgery program in the Gastrointestinal Surgery division has been officially accredited by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). This designation is testament to the facility having met the essential criteria that ensure bariatric surgery care capability and institutional performance as outlined by the ACS Bariatric Surgery Center Network.

Pruthi Promotes Free Prostate Cancer Screenings

September 3, 2010 – Dr. Raj Pruthi, Urologic Surgery, is featured on a public service announcement airing on ABC News that promotes UNC Hospitals’ free prostate cancer screening clinic, scheduled for Sept. 22nd and 23rd. The annual screening sessions encourage citizens to take the first step toward diagnosing prostate cancer at a treatable stage. Dr. Pruthi’s public service announcement can be seen on both ABC News and YouTube.

Amos on Dana DiPerna Pillsbury’s Team to Combat Breast Cancer

August 19, 2010 — Dana DiPerna Pillsbury, a high school English teacher from Davidson, NC, was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer on Election Day 2004. Five years after her initial treatment, her cancer returned. She was referred to the Breast Center at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, where her team of providers included Dr. Keith Amos (pictured at right).
