Using advanced genomics technologies, the team will identify genetic variants and genes that contribute to Alzheimer’s disease risk, providing a foundation for future work to develop tools to diagnose and treat this debilitating disorder.

Joining Dr. Phanstiel, who is an Assistant Professor of Cell Biology and Physiology at UNC and a Faculty member in the UNC Thurston Arthritis Research Center are; Dr. Hyejung Won, Assistant Professor of Genetics; and Dr. Todd Cohen, Associate Professor of Neurology.

The 5-year grant was issued by National Institute on Aging, within the National Institute on Health (NIH).
