The discovery regarding OA pain pathways could lead to new treatments in the future.

Dr. Lascelles is a Professor of Small Animal Surgery and Pain Management at NC State University. He is also a frequent collaborator and member of the faculty at the UNC Thurston Arthritis Research Center.

“There are currently very few effective and safe long-term ways to manage OA pain, which is chronic and often very debilitating,” says Dr. Lascelles, who was a corresponding author of the recent research.

The recent discovery could lead to the development of new, effective pain treatments for humans with osteoarthritis.
