The project addresses a critical need to improve care for patients with OA through an evidence-based, comprehensive and sustainable care model.
This exploratory clinical trial will examine a new “OA Clinic-Community CARE (OA CARE)” model, which addresses all recommended components of knee/hip OA care, includes interventions for patients and primary care clinicians, and uses a tailored approach to efficiently match treatments with patients’ needs. OA CARE involves a partnership with the YMCA of the Triangle (which covers a geographic area in and around Raleigh, NC) to deliver evidence-based lifestyle and behavioral programs.
This study will assess the feasibility of the OA CARE model and gather preliminary data to inform the design of a large, multi-site trial.
