Dr. Iweala provides important insights regarding research that scientists are conducting, as they seek ways to block a person’s immune cells from reacting to peanuts.

This innovative approach is still far from being implemented in clinical settings, but it marks an important new way of thinking about how to manage allergies, and may one day be applicable to environmental allergies and other food allergies in addition to peanuts.

Dr. Iweala’s comments regarding the basic science involved provides key perspectives about the future potential of the work being done.  Dr. Iweala is not involved in conducting the research being discussed.
