The papers provide important new insights regarding osteoarthritis.

The two scientific papers that have been highlighted by OARSI include:

  1. “Incidence and progression of hand osteoarthritis in a large community-based cohort: the Johnston County Osteoarthritis Project,” published in Osteoarthritis and Cartilage.
  2. “Co-morbid conditions and the transition among states of hip osteoarthritis and symptoms in a community-based study: a multi-state time-to-event model approach,” published in Arthritis Research & Therapy.

The data for the papers were derived from the Johnston County Osteoarthritis Project in Smithfield, NC.

For more than 25 years, the project has established itself as one of the premier longitudinal research studies world-wide regarding the epidemiology of osteoarthritis.
