The UNC Wilderness Medicine Program is here to provide the highest quality wilderness medicine education to first responders and healthcare professionals. Whether you work full-time as a healthcare professional in a wilderness or austere setting, or if you are simply looking to grow your practice into the wilderness space, our program is here for you. We offer a variety of education opportunities in the prevention, assessment, and treatment of injury and illness in remote and austere settings. Our goal is to provide healthcare professionals maximum support to ensure they are equipped to respond to the unique challenges of wilderness environments.

For Outdoor Athletes and Backcountry Enthusiasts
Are you an outdoor athlete, back country enthusiasts, or non-health care professional working in an austere setting? The UNC Wilderness Medicine Program is proud to provide Wilderness First Aid courses to provide individuals with an introduction to providing care in the wilderness. This program is designed for non-medical people looking for basic understanding of the basic skills needed to take treat common injuries and illnesses encountered in the wilderness to take with them on their adventures.
