Our patients represent a wide spectrum of ages. Patients in their 60's and 70's are often highly independent, physically active with few medical problems yet wish to establish a primary care relationship with one of our geriatricians. For them it is not about being old, but putting into place a continuum of care to support their focus on maintaining their health and aging gracefully.
Other patients that come to us have multiple yet, common pre-existing medical conditions. As we age our care becomes increasingly complex and can eventually become chronic and debilitating. This is when we are your specialist, working with you and your family to coordinate care of ongoing medical problems and to provide guidance as you transition from one level of care to another.
Common medical conditions treated at the Geriatrics Specialty Clinic:
These are just a few of the many medical conditions we treat. Patients often have three or more medical conditions, while other patients are relatively healthy and simply value the quality of care we offer. As we age, care grows more complex which is why we collaborate with leading doctors in each of the other specialties at UNC. We ensure you receive the individualized care you want, and the quality you need and deserve.
