Study Activities
To participate in Time to Conceive you will need to complete a telephone screening interview, attend a study visit, keep a fertility calendar, and undergo an early pregnancy ultrasound.
Screening Interview
The first part of the study is to determine if you can be in the study. During this phone interview you will
- Be asked questions to see if you are eligible to participate
- Receive information about study activities
- Be allowed to ask questions about the study
This screening interview should take approximately 20 minutes.
Study Visit
Your study visit will be scheduled on the second, third, or fourth day of your period at one of our two study sites. At the study visit you will:
- Review and sign the study consent forms
- Provide a blood sample of about 3 tablespoons
- Complete a questionnaire
- Provide a urine sample
The study visit will take about 30 minutes.
Fertility Calendar
While you are trying to get pregnant, we will ask you to keep a fertility calendar in which you will record menstruation, intercourse, medications, signs of ovulation, and pregnancy test results. We ask that you keep the calendar for up to 3 months. Daily entries should take a minute to complete.
Pregnancy Ultrasound
When you have your positive pregnancy test, we will schedule an ultrasound at one of two study sites to evaluate the pregnancy. The ultrasound will be scheduled during the 7th week of pregnancy. You will be provided pictures, and at your request, a copy of the report can be sent to your doctor. The ultrasound visit will take about 20 minutes.
