The International Neuropalliative Care Society (INPCS) honored Laura Hanson MD, MPH with its Outstanding Scientific Contribution Award. The November 2022 award recognized Dr. Hanson’s research in dementia palliative care. In addition, UNC Neurocritical Care faculty member Winnie Lau, MD received an INPCS seed funding award at this meeting.

In a recent special article in the Journal of American Geriatrics Society, John A. Batsis, MD (Associate Professor, UNC Division of Geriatric Medicine) and Patrick P Coll, MD (Medical Director for Senior Health and Associate Director for Clinical Geriatrics at the UConn Center on Aging at UConn Health), and colleagues reviewed the need to redesign Medicare’s Annual Wellness Visits.
Since 2010, the UNC Medical Student Training in Aging Research (MSTAR)* Program, led by PI, Jan Busby-Whitehead, MD, has welcomed 148 medical and osteopathic students to Chapel Hill. From June 24–25, the Duke-UNC ADRC hosted the Symposium for Learning about Alzheimer’s disease-related Medical research at Duke and UNC (SLAM-DUNC).
