Join UNC Anesthesiology on Wednesday, August 21st, to hear Visiting Professor Dr. Robert Gabriel present, “Leveraging Artificial Intelligence in Peri-Operative Medicine.” Dr. Gabriel is a tenured Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Associate Adjunct Professor in Biomedical Informatics at University of California – San Diego, where he serves as Vice Chair of Perioperative Informatics and Clinical Director of Anesthesiology at the Koman Outpatient Pavilion Ambulatory Surgery Center.

Dr. Gabriel’s research expertise focuses on applying A.I. concepts in perioperative medicine, including machine learning-based predictive modeling and natural language processing. His research focus is on designing predictive models around opioid addiction, critical care medicine, operating room efficiency, perioperative optimization, and social determinants of health. Clinically, Dr. Gabriel practices operating room anesthesia, regional anesthesia and chronic pain medicine (cryoneurolysis).
