UNC Anesthesiology congratulates Professor of Anesthesiology and Obstetrics and Gynecology David Mayer, MD, on his appointment to serve as one of seven Executive Committee members of the North Carolina Medical Care Commission (NC MCC).  Dr. Mayer is one of 17 Governor-nominated members of the NC MCC. As an Executive Committee member, he joins a distinguished group with high-level oversight of the NC MCC.  

Within the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR), the NC MCC issues and manages tax-exempt bonds to fund non-profit hospital construction and renovation projects, as well as those for continuing care retirement centers across the state. As an Executive Committee member, Dr. Mayer joins a decision-making NC DHSR group focused on adopting, recommending or rescinding rules for regulation of healthcare facilities across the State of North Carolina. Such entities range from larger-scale hospitals and free-standing outpatient surgical facilities, to smaller-scale hubs providing mammography/pap smear services, ambulances, and emergency medical services personnel.
