UNC Anesthesiology is pleased to recognize Assistant Professor Fei Chen, PhD, for being honored as faculty lead of one of three top posters to receive the 2024 Poster Session Recognition Award at the American Board of Medical Specialists (ABMS) Conference in late September 2024. Dr. Chen’s winning poster – Exploring the Relationship Between Demographic Factors and Accuracy of Anesthesiology Residents’ Self-assessments of Clinical Competencies – reflects her strong record and expertise in educational psychology and methodology. In its remarks, the ABMS poster review committee recognized Dr. Chen’s work for its outstanding research content, innovative design, originality, and alignment with ABMS Conference themes.
Dr. Chen’s scholarly excellence in her area of expertise has been recognized both within the institution and at the national level. In August 2024, she concluded a year-long $15K-funded investigative project as an ABMS Research and Education Foundation 2023-2024 Visiting Scholar. In May 2024, Dr. Chen received the Scholarship Award at the annual UNC School of Medicine (SOM) Academy of Educators Evening of Scholarship awards banquet.
Dr. Chen noted: “I was honored to present this poster at the ABMS annual conference on behalf of our amazing team. Team effort, not just my independent work, produced this award-winning poster.”
