UNC Department of Anesthesiology is thrilled to have two of our residency program alumni return to the Department and join our clinical faculty team!

Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology Daniel Rosenkrans, MD, completed his residency at UNC Hospitals in 2018. He returns to the Department as the newest anesthesiologist within our Critical Care Anesthesiology Division. Dr. Rosenkrans earned his BA degree in Biology & Pre-Medicine (2009) from Augustana College and completed medical school at Southern Illinois University (2014). Post-residency, Dr. Rosenkrans subspecialized in two fellowship programs at Duke University Medical Center — Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology (2019) and Critical Care Medicine (2020). Over the past two years, Dr. Rosenkrans practiced at the University of Colorado Hospital Authority in Aurora, CO.

Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology Amy Thompson, MD, completed her residency at UNC in 1998. She is the newest anesthesiologist (part-time) to join our General Anesthesiology Division. Dr. Thompson earned her BA degree in Biology from Newcomb College of Tulane University (1990) and completed medical school at Tulane University School of Medicine (1994). Following medical school, she completed an Anesthesiology Residency (1998) at UNC Hospitals.  Over the past 20+ years, Dr. Thompson has practiced anesthesiology both in teaching hospitals (Lehigh Valley Health Network) and in private practice (Allentown Anesthesia Associates), both in Allentown, PA.
