Dr. Gilliland currently serves as an associate professor in the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology and as the associate dean for curriculum, where he has partnered with faculty in implementing curriculum change in the Foundation Phase in 2014 and 2023.
In this new role, Dr. Gilliland will provide leadership, oversight, monitoring and execution of the assessment and evaluation processes for the medical education program leading to the MD degree; serve as a resource in the areas of measurement and programmatic accreditation requirements for the LCME; and identify assessment strategies and instruments to improve academic programs within the School of Medicine.
As Dr. Gilliland transitions to his new role, he will continue to help the Office of Medical Student Education with ongoing Foundation Phase activities.
