Associate Chair for Administration

Franklin has been with the UNC Health Care System and then the UNC School of Medicine since 2001 and is the Associate Chair for Administration for the Department of Emergency Medicine. He received a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master’s in Business Administration from Elon University, and a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He began his career in the UNC hospital labs and held positions in the Quality Department before managing five of the healthcare system’s hospital-based clinics.

Currently, as Associate Chair, Franklin has a wide range of responsibilities that ensure the Emergency Department continues to meet and expand its clinical, educational, and research goals. In addition to his Emergency Medicine responsibilities, Franklin has taught in the Health Policy and Management program at the UNC-Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health since 2009.
