Why I chose UNC:
PEOPLE; community/academic exposure; opportunities. I had a very enjoyable interview experience and people treat each other like a big happy family. Every program is about training but UNC is about training + happiness. There are a lot of social/family activities between residents and faculties, which will make the three years of life a lot of fun! As for training, UNC/WakeMed offers excellent mixture of academic/community exposure that helps you explore whatever interest you have in Emergency Medicine. If you are interested in global health specifically and looking for international careers, the international office of UNC gives you resources and opportunities in almost every continent in this world(not sure if you can work with penguins though lol). If the above is not enough to you, how about letting Dr. Tintinalli give you a talk on the Tintinalli’s during a shift with her?
