Dr. Matthew Harmody is an alumnus of the UNC Emergency Medicine residency class of 2000, the third emergency medicine class trained at UNC Hospitals. He and Andrew recently celebrated Match Day together as part of the festivities in UNC's Roper Hall.

For the second consecutive year, UNC E.M. colleagues visited A.L. Stanback Middle School in Hillsborough N.C. to teach 7th graders about medical topics and discuss many different potential careers paths in the medical field.

We are pleased -- and extremely proud -- to announce the newest additions to our E.M. family, and the future leaders in the field of Emergency Medicine.

The latest findings were recently published in the International Journal of Emergency Medicine.

Among the list of hostages scheduled for release is a local Chapel Hill man, whose wife was released at an earlier date.

The team provided families with gas cards, holiday gifts, and stockings, as well as a community meal by partnering with Carrboro-based “TABLE NC.”

Dr. Grover, Campus EMS Student Leaders, and Campus Health Collaborated on the study, which was Published in the Journal of American Collegiate Health.

Dr. Harmon and Dr. Kowalczyk will officially join the Emergency Medicine team on July 1st, 2025.

The articles were recently published in Prehospital Emergency Care.

The awards recognize her achievements and dedication to outstanding teaching, as well as her selection as the single highest-rated ACEP presenter from 2023-2024.

Her training and experience as a UNC Emergency Medicine physician equipped her to assist multiple families during long and difficult days in storm-ravaged western N.C.

The $300K, 2-year research project is being funding by a "Grants for Early Medical/Surgical Specialists’ Transition to Aging Research" (GEMSSTAR) career development award.
