The UNC Department of Genetics was ranked first in NIH funding among Genetics departments in public schools of medicine for 2019, according to a new report by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research.

Overall, the Department of Genetics was ranked 6th in NIH funding among all universities.  All six basic science departments in the School of Medicine were ranked in the top 10 for NIH funding, while 12 clinical departments ranked in the top 30.  The School of Medicine was ranked 17th in the country in total NIH funding and 6th among peer universities.  Congratulations to Department of Genetics faculty, postdocs, students and staff!
