Jenny P. Ting, PhD (William Rand Kenan Professor of Genetics) has been elected to the American Academy of Arts & Sciences.
Since its founding in 1780, the Academy has celebrated the excellence of its members as an honorary society and served as an “independent research center convening leaders from across disciplines, professions and perspective to address significant challenges.” Dr. Ting has been on the faculty of the UNC School of Medicine since 1984 and has served as Program Leader for Immunology in the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center since 1991. She received the International Cytokine and Interferon Society’s ICIS-Pfizer Award in 2021 and the UNC Mentor Award for Lifetime Achievement and the Illinois State University Distinguished Alumni Award, both in 2022. With 340 published papers and a very active and well-funded laboratory, Dr. Ting continues to contribute to our understanding of inflammatory disorders, cancer, infectious diseases and the use of innate immune agonists as vaccine adjuvants.
