Folami Ideraabdullah

Dr. Folami Ideraabdullah has been appointed Associate Professor with tenure in the Department of Genetics with a joint appointment in the Department of Nutrition, effective Jan. 1, 2021.

Dr. Ideraabdullah earned a BS in Biology from Penn State in 2001 followed by a PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology in 2007 from UNC Chapel Hill.  Following a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania (2007-2012), Dr. Iderabdullah was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics with a joint appointment in the Department of Nutrition at UNC Chapel Hill.  Since 2019, Dr. Ideraabdullah has served as co-director of the Developmental Disease Group for the UNC Center for Environmental Health and Susceptibility (CEHS) and in 2020, she was named to the list of 100 Inspiring Black Scientists in America by Cell Press.  Dr. Ideraabdullah’s lab studies mechanisms of environmental modulation of the epigenome during development.
