Dr. Folami Ideraabdullah (Assistant Professor, Department of Genetics) was awarded an R21 grant from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) for her project titled “Investigating the Role of Metabolic Programming in Vitamin D Deficiency Induced Adiposity”. This study will investigate the role of energy metabolism in developmental vitamin D deficiency (DVD)-induced changes in offspring metabolic health and examine the role of epigenetic mechanisms in causing effects to persist into adulthood.
