Dr. Chuck Perou (Distinguished Professor, Genetics) was awarded a new U01 grant from the National Cancer Institute for his project titled “Elucidating the molecular mechanisms of metastasis organ tropism”.  The overall goal of this funded work is to determine why certain breast tumor subtypes have preferential sites of metastasis, and how, once established, these metastases interact with the local immune microenvironment and what tumor-organ crosstalk might sustain tumor growth.

Dr. Hyejung Won (Associate Professor, Genetics) was awarded a new R61/R33 grant from the National Institute of Aging for her project titled “In vivo single-cell analysis of Alzheimer’s disease-associated regulatory elements”.   The project will focus on defining how cis-regulatory elements associated with AD risk affect gene regulation in a cell type and context-specific manner, using single-cell Massively Parallel Reporter Assays.
