A research article highlights a method for prioritizing variants in miRNAs by their functional significance. Two Thematic Reviews are included in a special section of the Journal of Lipid Research.
The new research findings include the observation that a variant in the promoter of the miRNA let-7 may contribute to human height variation. One of the coauthors of this paper is Sara Selitsky, who is a graduate student in the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (BCB) program.
Praveen is sole author of a review article on the general topic of functional SNPs in miRNAs.
The other review is on the role of multiple, functionally distinct miRNA isoforms (isomiRs) in the regulation of lipid metabolism; it includes Jeanette Baran-Gale, also a BCB grad student, as a coauthor.
