Avani Saraswatula, an undergraduate student in the laboratory of Dr. Fernando Pardo Manuel de Villena, together with fellow Biomedical Engineering students Maddie Smith and Anne Hope Cooper created POPSolutions, a group with a goal to provide a better, non-surgical solution to pelvic organ prolapse. They were awarded $3500 to further develop their design for this important product from the i4 Program. This is a novel design program in the UNC/NC State Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering that culminates in an annual competition awarding a financial prize, supporting further intellectual property development and the eventual formation of student-founded companies. Congratulations Avani!
