Virginia Miller

Dr. Virginia Miller (Professor, Dept. of Genetics and Microbiology & Immunology) has been awarded an R01 grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) for her project titled “Understanding hypermucoviscosity in Klebsiella”.

The proposed studies will define the role of RpmD in causing hypermucoviscosity (HMV) and examine how HMV leads to virulence of Klebsiella pneumonia, which is a leading cause of nosocomial infections and is associated with a high mortality rate.
