William Valdar

Dr. Will Valdar (Professor, Department of Genetics) is the recipient of a subcontract from a new R01 grant awarded to Dr. David Threadgill at Texas A&M University.

The grant, funded by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), is titled “Foundational studies for precision nutrition”. Dr. Valdar will supervise a postdoctoral fellow and a graduate student to assist in the analysis of phenotype, genotype and molecular data, including expression data, arising from the proposed project. He will provide expert advice and technical assistance regarding the statistical aspects of the choice of appropriate models for molecular phenotyping, mapping of quantitative trait loci, and subsequent prioritization of candidate variants.
